BofA, Wells Fargo improve on bank-reputation survey (but that may not be saying much)
This is a bizjournals.com story.
“Banks are clearly focusing on their customers, and those retention strategies are paying off,” Rob Jekielek, a vice president at the Reputation Institute, a reputation-management consultancy, told American Banker.
Charlotte-based BofA scored 66.18 out of a possible 100 points based on customers’ perception of the company. That was up from a 60.08 from last year. San Francisco-based Wells Fargo, with its East Coast hub in Charlotte, scored 71.22, up from 70.69 last year.
But the two banks — the Charlotte region’s largest by far, based on local deposits — trailed their rivals in the reputation survey, with BofA ranking No. 32 and Wells ranking No. 31 on the survey of customers.
Bank of America was also last on a related survey of non-customers, scoring 48.08. Wells Fargo ranked No. 28 on that list, with a score of 55.96.
