The Tennessee Bar Foundation will receive approximately $8.5 million from Bank of America as a part of a nationwide settlement to provide homeowners with legal assistance in foreclosure prevention and community redevelopment.
Headquartered in Nashville, TBF is one of 56 state-based legal-assistance organizations receiving funds under the settlement, which resolved legal claims arising from mortgage-related activities by Bank of America and its subsidiaries.
The fund is connected to the bank’s record-setting $16.7 billion settlement in 2014 with the U.S. Department of Justice and related to the bank’s questionable mortgage practices.
